The protagonist this time around is Kaede Akamatsu, a girl whose musical talent earned her a place in the nation's program for gifted students. Kaede and her classmates have been kidnapped from around the country and taken to the Ultimate Academy for Gifted Juveniles, where Monokuma is joined by five \"Monokuma Kubs\" to host the latest killing game.\u003c\/p\u003e\n \u003cp\u003eGameplay is much the same as in past installments; the story is broken up into Daily Life, Deadly Life, and Class Trial segments, each of which has its own mechanics and goals. An added gameplay mechanic is the ability to tell lies during trials in order to lead the conversation in a desired direction. While optional, lying can help the player clear trials faster and provoke different reactions from the other students.
