When it was brought over to The West, the PS3 and PS4 version were released simultaneously, but with different content. For the existing Destruction mode it is possible to play as any Kaiju, not just Godzilla. The Diorama mode plays differently and the same applies to the Evolution mode which was overhauled. In the PS4 version the Evolution mode is used to unlock new monsters after having defeated them in the Destruction mode. In the PS3 version this was only possible for Godzilla 2014 and Burning Godzilla, while on the PS4 it can be done for all monsters.
