DRAGON QUEST HEROES II is a hack-and-slash, field-roaming Action RPG that sends players on a new adventure to restore order to a once peaceful world filled with hordes of monsters and battles of epic proportions. Up to 4 players can band together in cooperative multiplayer to conquer swarms of enemies and defeat challenging boss monsters. There is also a cast of many playable characters each with unique moves and abilities & including a host of familiar faces from the DRAGON QUEST® series and four brand new heroes that must team up to defeat an unknown threat looming over the Seven Realms!
Features
Dragon Quest Heroes II is a single-player and multiplayer action role-playing game. Set in a world where seven kingdoms have enjoyed centuries of peace, the story begins when old alliances are shattered by a sudden conflict. Players step into the roles of cousins Lazarel and Teresa, military cadets who find themselves drawn into a war that threatens to engulf the continent. Joined by a cast of new and returning characters from across the Dragon Warrior / Dragon Quest series, they must uncover the cause of the unrest and unite the kingdoms against a greater danger.
The game combines fast-paced hack-and-slash combat with role-playing progression. Battles take place in open fields and large environments rather than confined arenas, with players fighting against hundreds of monsters at once. Characters use melee weapons, spells, and special abilities, with each having a distinct fighting style. Combat emphasizes chaining attacks, using area-of-effect spells, and managing large groups of enemies while completing battlefield objectives.
Progression is tied to experience points, equipment, and character growth. Players can switch freely between Lazarel and Teresa, or recruit series veterans such as Carver, Maribel, and Torneko, each bringing unique skills. New in this entry is the ability to change vocations, allowing the main characters to switch between roles such as warrior, mage, or monk, each with its own weapons and abilities. Special transformations called Monster Medals let characters temporarily summon or take the form of defeated monsters for tactical advantages. Town hubs allow players to manage equipment, buy supplies, and accept quests. Side missions and optional dungeons provide rewards for upgrading gear and strengthening characters. Cooperative multiplayer is included for up to four players, enabling friends to join battles and share progression.
Compared to its predecessor, Dragon Quest Heroes II places more emphasis on exploration, with interconnected maps that encourage travel between regions and random monster encounters outside of story battles.
