Larry Lovage, the nephew of Larry Laffer, still lingers in his student home with nothing to do but to watch porn and - well, let's not go there. One day he gets a call from his Uncle who has a problem with a mole inside his famous adult film studio sabotaging productions and creating other problems. Larry (Laffer) asks Larry (Lovage) to come over and help him find the mole while working under the cover of a useless summer intern - a disguise Larry (the Uncle) is sure to be easy to contain by his nephew. Larry (the Nephew) of course immediately jumps at the opportunity to meet famous stars and agrees to the deal arriving at Laffer Studios the next day.
The player takes over the controls of Larry Lovage and is free to roam the studio area either on foot or by "borrowing" one of the many golf carts available. These can also be used to run over other people but will quickly arise the attention of the police force on site who will try to capture Larry to put him to justice. But driving over peasants isn't the main goal of the game, instead Larry has do to chores for the people on the compound while searching for the mole. These missions range from removing graffiti, delivering packages, collecting items scattered all around an area and other kinds of simple mini-games.
As opposed to previous Leisure Suit Larry-games Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust doesn't contain nudity or sexual content but still features humor, good-looking women and mature themes including parodies of famous movies and the porn-industry.
