PSYGNOSIS RELEASES G POLICE', A FUTURISTIC FLIGHT SHOOTER WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES FOR THE PLAYSTATION' GAME CONSOLE

Foster City, CA. - October 15, 1997 - Today Psygnosis announced the release of its graphically stunning and mission-intensive futuristic flight combat shooter, G-Police', for the PlayStation® game console. A testimonial to Psygnosis' advanced and innovative development expertise on the PlayStation platform, G-Police shows off how a third generation game can be comprehensive of all the greatest features - convincing graphics, intense action and extensive gameplay. The game will have an approximate retail price of $49.99.

Response to the game by the gaming press has been excellent. Electronic Gaming Monthly says, "G-Police is one of the most amazing-looking titles ever seen on the PlayStation," while Ultra Game Players comments, "The trademark Psygnosis special effects look even better than usual, with jaw-dropping explosions and destruction on a huge scale," continuing on to say, "there are puzzles, plots and missions, but G-Police is all about pure fun [and] one of the better PlayStation games this Christmas." And to support Psygnosis' belief that G-Police will be one of its hottest selling titles this season, the company is putting $2.5 million marketing investment behind the title in campaigns including everything from TV and national print advertising to retail POP and promotions from October through December.

In G-Police, PlayStation gamers test their flight skills piloting the heavily-armed Havoc jet helicopter that has enough fire-power to do major damage in all the right places. Gamers experience a deep immersion in detailed, heavily populated 3D worlds, having total 360 degree, "fly-anywhere" freedom with the action taking place over 4 campaigns throughout 50 futuristic domed environments that are a mix of city, industrial, residential and agricultural communities on Callisto, a moon of Jupiter.

"A futuristic city is the perfect location for a game like this, lending itself to spectacular, movie-style action, flying between skyscrapers and under bridges, blowing up enemy craft and street-level traffic - whatever gets in the way of your mission," explains Graham Davis, head producer at Psygnosis' UK office in Stroud. "Our objective was to place the player at the center of action as dynamic as any Hollywood blockbuster special effects extravaganza, and give the player total control."

The plot line, which unfolds in fully computer-generated FMV sequences and via interactive, in-game radio briefings controlled by the advanced artificial intelligence in the game, involves multi-national corporate espionage, sabotage and murder. Earth's resources are completely depleted and a race is on to claim every ore-bearing rock in the Solar System.

After a war between nations, military resources are wiped out and the powerful multinational corporations unite to take control and exploit other resources in the galaxy. As the 'Corporations' begin to demilitarize the colonies, the G-Police, essentially a crew of war veterans, are born to keep the greedy bunch in check. As a new member of the G-Police law-enforcement agency, you are Jeff Slater, a veteran ace pilot, whose personal story evolves as the game is played. More information on G-Police can be found on Psygnosis' dedicated website at http://www.gpolice.com/. The PC version of the game is slated for release on November 4th.

Psygnosis employs over 700 people with publishing and development offices in the US, UK, and across Europe. Working with over 30 development teams and eight internal development sites, the company is now the largest development house in Europe. Psygnosis is a subsidiary of Sony.

After a violent interstellar resource war, mega-corporations seize power from the remnants of Earth's governments and lead humanity's way into the colonization of space. The last vestige of central authority is in the form of the G-Police (Government Police); an independent agency tasked with keeping order in the colonies. You play as rookie Jeff Slater - a former military pilot going undercover at the G-Police squadron on Callisto, in the hopes of finding the truth behind your sister's sudden death.

G-Police is an arcade-style helicopter shooter set inside the colony domes on Callisto. You pilot a futuristic close-air-support gunship, and are tasked with engaging ground and air enemies as you uncover a sinister corporate plot. Your ship can hover and turn in a VTOL mode, fire weapons outfitted before each mission, and lock on to objects in the world to both track enemies and scan suspicious cargo. Missions require you to navigate through the skyscrapers and billboards of the various city districts, and complete a number of objectives updated through radio contact with headquarters. There are thirty-six missions to complete.
