(SCEA) today announced the release of this season's latest SingStar® sensation, SingStar® ABBA, available for both the PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3©) and the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment systems. An essential part of any SingStar fan's collection, SingStar ABBA expands the franchise's robust holiday line-up, offering an authentic interactive singing experience set to the iconic music of ABBA.

Developed in full collaboration with ABBA and Universal Music Group in Sweden, SingStar ABBA delivers ABBA's most legendary songs and videos with popular tracks including ‘Mamma Mia', ‘Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)', ‘Dancing Queen', ‘Take a Chance on Me' and ‘Waterloo'.

Continuing to grow the PS3 library following the October release of SingStar® Vol. 2, SingStar ABBA for the PS3 system allows players to capture all their special ABBA party moments by using the PLAYSTATION®Eye to record their performances and share them with the worldwide SingStar community via My SingStar® Online. Players also can connect to the PS3 online SingStore©, giving them access to more than 400 downloadable songs to add to their collections. In an effort to enhance the North American SingStore based on consumer feedback, over 60 songs from the European SingStore will be made available to U.S. fans over the next few months. Highlights of the new songs include:

For those in need of some festive tunes to compliment holiday entertaining, a Christmas song pack will be released mid-December on the SingStore. The pack will be available for $6.99 and will include the following:

• Toni Braxton & ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas'
• Babyface & ‘Sleigh Ride'
• Shakin' Stevens & ‘Merry Christmas'
• Paul McCartney & ‘Wonderful Christmastime'
• Celine Dion & ‘Christmas Eve'

Also for the holidays, the full PlayStation 2 SingStar catalog will be accessible for the PS3 system via a free game update coming by Christmas that provides PS3 SingStar owners with backwards compatibility of all PS3 and PlayStation 2 SingStar discs.

Popular PlayStation 2 SingStar titles like the recently released SingStar® Country, SingStar® Pop vol. 2, and SingStar® Legends will be easily accessible when running a PS3 SingStar game. This feature is only compatible with SingStar discs for the PS3 system.

The independent Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated SingStar® ABBA for both PS3 and PS2“T” for Teen. For more information about the ESRB visit www.esrb.org.

SingStar ABBA is a karaoke game featuring songs from the Swedish group ABBA. The group was active from 1972-82 and reformed in 2016. They had many hits, particularly in the disco and pop music genres.

The game gives points which are distributed by the purity of singing, as in how well does one manage to stay in tune. It doesn't matter if you change octaves in the middle of the song or what words are you singing in (it doesn't have a word recognition element), so your singing is rated by how well you manage to hit the correct note at the correct time.

Five songs are exclusive to the PlayStation 3 version and the Spanish version has a slightly different playlist with Spanish songs. Abba were popular in Latin America and recorded translated versions of their songs including a complete album for that market.
